One of the most common questions we get asked at Mile Zero Sober Living is “What can I bring to a sober living house?” For many it is a new environment in a new city, and answering these questions help our new residents feel more at ease when transitioning into our sober living environment.
For our clients it is often easier to begin with identify what not to bring to a sober living house. This list of what not to bring is not all-inclusive but provides a general guideline of what is not permitted while residing at Mile Zero Sober Living.
The things that I can NOT have while in a Sober Living House
- Drugs and illicit substances
- Mood altering substances
- Gambling paraphernalia
- Straight razors
- Clothing that depicts violence, drug, or alcohol use
- Pharmaceuticals without a prescription
(In addition, if you are on any prescription medications, the team at Mile Zero will need to be notified. It is important to have your medicine in its original container.)
Upon arrival at Mile Zero Sober Living residents are encouraged to take time to unpack their belongings, and become acquainted with their new surroundings. It is important for our residents to feel comfortable and at home.
Suggested items to have while at Mile Zero Sober Living
- West Coast climate and seasonally appropriate clothing
- Comfortable clothing
- Outdoor foot wear and indoor slippers ( and sandals for the beach! )
- Journal and / or daytimer
- Recovery literature
